A series of “Welcome to Neilston” posters were created in collaboration with Neilston Youth Initiative, following a walking tour around Neilston. Various local locations were photographed using digital cameras and the posters are the final outcome from a series of art workshops run by artist Janie Nicoll.

The workshops encouraged the group to explore their surroundings and their local environment, using digital cameras as a way of collecting and recording imagery.

Starting with sessions using drawing and collage to collect images and information about Neilston as a place, the group learned how to take photographs of themselves, as well as objects and places that interested them. They also learned how to scan and manipulate images on the computer, using Adobe Photoshop, an industry standard digital imaging package.
