Welcome to B.A.S.I.S, an Art and Social Inclusion initiative developed by Barrhead Housing Association working in association with East Renfrewshire Council and advised and co-ordinated by arts consultants, Art in Partnership.

The projects on this website show how the experience of working with a professional artist can enable individuals to tackle a range of issues which include developing their craft and technical skills, improving their social interaction with other groups, building their organisational and teambuilding skills and improving their prospects of employment.

The success of these artists-led projects has created the framework for an ongoing programme of Wider Role activity.

 

Something of their own

A fully illustrated publication documenting phase one of the B.A.S.I.S projects with essays by Ruth Hedges and Jim Middleton is available from Barrhead Housing Association. A PDF (text only) is available for download here.

DVDs from the B.A.S.I.S project archive are available for viewing on specially installed plasma screens in the local community libraries at Barrhead and Neilston.
