BIG LOTTERY

In 2008 B.A.S.I.S. was awarded a grant of £139,107 from the Big Lottery Young People's Fund to further develop its programme and provide artist-led workshops for four groups of young people from Barrhead and Neilston up to 2010.

The Young People's Fund in Scotland is a £20 million grant programme to help young people aged 11-25 learn new things and take part in healthy and positive activities that make them feel good about themselves.

Groups identified to benefit from the first round of workshops include the Neilston Girls Group, Youth Action, and a group of disabled young people with a variety of special needs, the Monday Night Group (formerly FABB).

Simon Grennan of the international duo Grennan and Sperandio has also been invited to develop a book project with a wide range of young people from Barrhead and Neilston. His project will involve the young people in collating and designing a book that will be distributed as a gift to all the households in the neighbourhood.
